A Directorate is established on 31.06.1972, on the basis of a Council of Ministers decree. In July 1993 it is transformed into an association. The association in the town of Varna and its subsidiary in the town of Bourgas have precise object of activity:
  • maintaining the cleanness of sea waters, water areas of the ports and approaches;
  • cleaning oil and oil produce patches within the territorial sea and the inland sea waters in cases of emergency spills;
  • technical procurement and measures for confining pollution danger during cargo handling operations;
  • repairs and others reception and processing of solid and oil refuse from the operation of the sea vessels, the ports and the activities related to them.

After a conducted competition, won by Prista Oil JSCo, 80% of PCHMV EOOD became ownership of the former. On 11.08.2000 the Ministry of Transport sold the rest ownership of 20% under a Contract for Privatization Sale of a Common Share in Lightened Terms.

A decision for transforming PCHMV into a joint stock company is made by a general meeting resolution. At present the company is represented and managed by eng. Anton Manolov.
